A terrific, funny story, great characters, some of our best music/songs ever and the opportunity to stage a colourful, toe tapping production makes this show a winner. No need for choreographic expertise! Loads of suggestions to make the simple look sensational!! Scheming developer Daryl Dimond plans to demolish a much loved dance hall and build the tallest building in the city in order to become ‘King of the Town’. Locals look back over the hall’s fabulous history. Memories like the twenties dance that was held up by gangsters, the black cats that boogie in the alley behind the hall on Saturdays, the rock and roll dance interrupted by a dispute between rival gangs, the ‘Big Band’ forties dance, a live TV broadcast of the 60s dance craze, ‘the Bump’, mean that the show is packed with reminiscences, intrigue and hilarity. A great show to get kids moving, singing and having fun. Simple format with a great story linking the items.
