What do you want from a show? ·
Something young people will love being part of. ·
A show that your audiences will enjoy. ·
A show that will promote a positive profile for your school
or group in the wider community. ·
A show
that includes great music, strong leads, lots of small roles,
terrific storyline and lots of humour. ·
A show that will allow your school or group to develop excellence
in the performing arts. Musical shows can be fun, joyful,
inspiring and dynamic! Being involved in a
musical production is a fantastic, stimulating and challenging experience
for all involved. A musical production is a wonderful vehicle for
development of skills in the performing arts and contributes enormously
to group collaboration, cohesion and teamwork. As a musical show
incorporates all three areas of the performing arts; dance, drama and
music, it allows people with a broad range of skills and talents to
participate. The process of
building a show encourages positive growth in the cast and crew. The end
result, the performance itself should be the best you can produce. The
journey itself can also be a memorable and worthwhile experience! • Cast members
develop skills and knowledge in the performing arts-dance, drama and
music. • Cast members grow
in self-esteem, confidence and poise as they learn the skills involved in
performing for an audience and for each other. • Communication
skills are greatly enhanced. Interpreting script and lyrics for
performance allows cast members to develop and refine their communication
skills • Social skills are
developed as the cast and crew work together on an exciting project. • Cast members
develop an understanding of the work, commitment and dedication involved
in being part of a long-term project, which ultimately reaps wonderful
rewards. • Group pride is
promoted as cast and crew work on a terrific, positive project together. Professional and
community theatre groups are aware of the need to develop and increase
younger audiences. Younger people need to be encouraged to view live
theatre as an entertainment option. This can certainly be accomplished by
involving young people in theatre; staging shows that are appealing and
relevant to them. Involve young people in shows so they can experience
for themselves the magic of the stage. |
